Olivia Taylor-Butler
PHOTOGRAPHY & CINEMATOGRAPHY
I’m an up and coming photographer and film student based in Kansas City, MO
and Los Angeles, CA.
I've lived in Italy for a year and speak fluent Italian.
I've played Alto Sax in Hungary and Flute at the Vatican in Rome.
I've traveled to Malaysia and South Korea, Spain and France.
But I always look forward to coming home again.
I hope to inspire you with my images.
I want to open a window into the world around us.
Perhaps capture a single emotional moment in someone's life.
I hope to do that and more as the site develops.
Enjoy!
While at a family reunion, I spotted a joyful exchange between my uncle and his sons. Fathers don't often get recognition for how much they love and nurture their children. There was something ebullient about their smiles and giggles. So I snapped several photographs at various angles.
I submitted this one to the annual Photo Spiva Exhibition. The judge this year was Shannon Perich, Curator of the Photographic History Collection at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
From a field of 809 images submitted by 153 photographers, Ms. Perich selected 85 for the exhibit. My photo was one of them.
The exhibit can be seen from March 7 until May 3 at
Spiva Center for the Arts
222 W. 3rd Street
Joplin, M0 64801
Enjoy!
